Wind Chill / Heat Index

This Wind Chill / Heat Index map plots either:

1. Wind Chill (degrees F) if temperatures are below 50 F and winds are greater than 3 mph,
2. Heat Index (degrees F) if temperatures are above 80 F, or
3. Current Temperature (degrees F) if neither wind chill or heat index is a factor.

This map is updated every 5 minutes.

Today's Maximum Wind Chill / Heat Index

Today's Maximum Wind Chill / Heat Index map plots the highest "feels like" temperature at each Mesonet station. Thus, depending on the season, the map plots either:

1. the highest wind chill (if temperature is less than 50 F),
2. the highest heat index (if temperature is greater than 80 F), or
3. the highest temperature (if temperature is between 50 and 80 F) since midnight at each Mesonet station.

This map is updated every 5 minutes.

Today's Minimum Wind Chill / Heat Index

Today's Minimum Wind Chill / Heat Index map plots the lowest "feels like" temperature at each Mesonet station. Thus, depending on the season, the map plots either:

1. the lowest wind chill (if temperature is less than 50 F),
2. the lowest heat index (if temperature is greater than 80 F), or
3. the lowest temperature (if temperature is between 50 and 80 F) since midnight at each Mesonet station.

This map is updated every 5 minutes.

Wet Bulb Globe Temperature Risk

The Wet Bulb Globe Temperature Risk map plots the current wet bulb globe temperature (degrees F) at the standard height of 1.5m (5 feet) along with its associated risk category. The wet bulb globe temperature is an estimation of the impact of temperature, humidity, wind speed, and solar radiation on humans. Its values are similar to a heat index; however, the wet bulb globe temperature additionally accounts for sunlight exposure and wind speed. The risk categories are based on guidelines from the NWS Tulsa WFO. This map is updated every 5 minutes. The Today's Maximum Wet Bulb Globe Temperature Risk map plots the maximum wet bulb globe temperatures (degrees F) at the standard height of 1.5m (5 feet) along with its associated risk category observed so far for the current day. The wet bulb globe temperature is an estimation of the impact of temperature, humidity, wind speed, and solar radiation on humans. Its values are similar to a heat index; however, the wet bulb globe temperature additionally accounts for sunlight exposure and wind speed. The risk categories are based on guidelines from the NWS Tulsa WFO. This map is updated every 5 minutes.
